About Me

I have always had an artist’s heart, learning to draw with pencils, paints and chalk from an early age. From childhood I knew I wanted to be an artist but I just wasn’t sure what media it would be.
Creating paper cut insects is what started my art journey as an adult. From the moment my Autistic son recognized and learned about insects through my artwork I was hooked. I began the process of transforming paper into little settings which led me to creating portraits and everyday objects. Through the years my work has expanded from just paper to adding acrylic paint and dye ink accents.
I think in pictures so it’s easy for me to create artwork in my head before I even pick up paper or a brush. I tend to use words or quotes in the majority of my artwork mainly because it gives the words a home, so to speak. I think for someone who is so visual, the words incorporated in my artwork makes them more alive and real.
When I am working on a new piece I let my imagination go wild and find happy accidents all the time. I remember an art teacher telling me, “Jennifer, in art you can’t make a mistake, the mistakes are what make it great”. I have always remembered that and it provides many opportunities for new discoveries only I know about.
